Platon Ted Talk

Due to the heat and some side effects of medication I’m taking, I had spent a lazy Saturday at home recently. My wife put on the TED Channel and among the many great talks I saw that day was this one by Photographer Platon:

This talk exemplifies everything I love about portrait photography. I’m inherently a people person and love the process taking portraits because of the opportunity to get to know someone new and connect with them on a level deep enough to capture the real person underneath the veneer that most people put up when facing a camera. While my subjects may not be “monumental” in the same sense, they provide opportunities to tell their stories through photographs and if I do my job well and make that connection, genuine human moments will result.
